Why Therapy?Because life’s instruction manual seems to have gone missing. Because life can be hard. Because relationships are complicated. Because sometimes our brains make things more difficult than they need to be.
Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. At its core, therapy is simply a place to make sense of the chaos and work through it together. I believe therapy should feel less like an interrogation and more like a genuine conversation. My office is a space where tears are welcome, laughter is encouraged, and awkward silences are perfectly okay. After all, growth often happens somewhere in the middle of all three.
My goal is to help clients gain insight, build practical skills, and develop a healthier relationship with themselves. Together, we’ll work toward understanding patterns, overcoming obstacles, and replacing self-criticism with self-compassion. My approach blends evidence-based practices with authentic connection, humor, and empathy, creating a supportive environment where lasting change can happen.
Throughout my career, I have worked with children and families navigating foster care and adoption, supported older adults recovering from hospitalization, helped address and prevent domestic violence, and provided leadership in health insurance case management. These experiences have given me a broad perspective and deep appreciation for the many factors that influence a person’s well-being, allowing me to approach each client with a holistic lens.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Wichita State University and my Master of Social Work with a clinical focus from the University of Kansas. As an Army veteran, I understand the unique challenges, strengths, and culture of military life. And as a mom raising what sometimes feels like a small Army of my own, I’ve learned that maintaining sanity often comes down to knowing which battles are worth fighting.
