I believe that everyone’s story deserves a safe space to be told. I love to hold that space for my clients as they’re navigating family conflict, friendship struggles, and all things relational. I care a lot about how people try to make sense of who they are in this world and what it means for them to create a fulfilling life.
I grew up in Iowa and had a major culture shock when I moved to Wichita because things are vastly different here. I moved from a liberal hub to the bible belt and had to learn about what it means to advocate for your beliefs and make a life worth living, independently. I use my life experiences and my education to offer guidance to others trying to do the same. Whether my client is a teenager, a family system, adult, or a couple my goal is to help people become the healthiest and happiest version of themselves.
My demeanor is generally light-hearted and humorous to help build comfort in sessions. This is assisted by the comedic and soft presence of either of my CGC-trained corgis, Harper or Herky. Throughout our time in therapy, I will employ methods such as narrative therapy, internal family systems theory, contextual and Bowen theories, and emotion focused therapy to improve outlook and understanding of the world. I like to be assertive and direct to my clients to role model these skills and acknowledge the gravity of your experience, encouraging you to create change where it’s needed.
I got my Bachelors in Pyschology at the University of Iowa with minors in human relations and social work, with a focus on sociology. I then went to Friends University for my Masters in Family Therapy. After this, I completed an Affirmative Therapy with LGBT Clients certificate from Southern Methodist University. With this extensive education and my experiences working the Suicide Lifeline for 2 years as well as familiarity with the Kansas foster care system, I hope to provide accurate and appropriate care for my clients.
