Andy is a Master of Social Work practicum student at Wichita State University and will graduate in May 2026. After a long career working in professional baseball, including serving as Manager of Field Operations for the New York Mets, Andy experienced a paradigm shift following a personal battle with ulcerative colitis that resulted in life-changing surgery. Through that experience, he discovered a calling to help others facing chronic health issues, major life transitions, and the unique pressures of high-performance environments.
At Real Life Counseling, Andy provides pro bono counseling services under clinical supervision. His approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and person-centered care, focusing on the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing. Andy has a special interest in working with clients navigating chronic illness, anxiety, stress, and burnout, as well as those connected to sports including athletes, umpires, and front office staff.
Andy is passionate about helping people feel heard, valued, and capable of creating meaningful change in their lives. He is also exploring the development of a support group for individuals living with inflammatory bowel disease and a wellness program for groundskeepers to promote mental health and resilience in the sports industry.
